HOW search gmail groups for contacts?

hi, i have a huawei p9. all my gmail contacts are synced to the phone. i want to be able to search them because some have phone numbers in the 'notes' field which don't show up as 'contacts with numbers' as the phone obviously can't figure out that numbers in the note field could be valid phone numbers.

Welcome to Android Central! I just tested this with the Google Contacts app on my Nexus 6P, and it worked. I entered "Test 12345" in the Notes field of a contact, then went back to the main Contacts screen, tapped the Search button, and searched for "Test" and "12345," both of which brought up the correct entry. If your stock contacts app doesn't do this, then you may want to test out some 3rd party contacts app (unfortunately, you probably won't be able to install Google's Contacts app, because I think it's only available for Nexus devices).
