S21 here...... Seems like a ridiculously stupid question, but how the heck do I turn off Samsung Music? I cannot believe it will not shut off. I have looked all over for the magic 'OFF' button, but none appear.

If I get to the screen shown in pic below, it will still keep playing song EVEN AFTER I TOUCH THE "CLOSE ALL" BUTTON!!!!! I am totally gobsmacked by the insanity of being unable to accomplish something simple like this.

It's never been "OFF" ... or "play" or "Pause" ..or in that case "x".... that's how you stop playing.....PhotoCollage_1643927926807.jpg

I think you can also hit the "X", instead of the "pause" , when you pull down from the top.

I kind of agree with the OP that it's weird and almost stupid, kind of goofy. However, probably something about still needing to be able to play music and switch tracks, etc... from lock screen.

Is that a pic of the Samsung music player? If so, how did you get to that screen? Thanks.

If it's not Samsung player, which app is it? I would like to simply have a "X" button (as shown in your pic) to shut it off.

Yes,is a pic of the Samsung MP..
On Quick Panel, AOD, Lock Screen, there is an "X" with which you can stop playing music ... theme is custom ... #hex installer ... available on Play StoreScreenshot_20220204-154925_Nova7.jpg

In case you haven't yet figured it out, when music is playing, swipe down from the top. It should show in the list of notifications.

This is the only solution I can find and very access unfriendly. If you have poor eyesight or find it hard hitting that small "x" without hitting play, there is no way you can turn it off. It makes the player obsolete.

THIS IS INSANE!!!!! I just got rid of my Motorola and got the Samsung... I don't like paying for a music service... so I transferred my 500 CD collection onto MP3's on my phone ( on a 500 GB micro SD card ) and have them on every device I own....
I play my blue tooth speaker daily from my phone.... every device I have has a music player .... but not this Samsung phone!!!!!
I've spent two full day's trying to figure out how to STOP and CLOSE the Samsung Music player... there is NO X?????
I have to restart the phone to close the app...... and it takes a couple minutes to restart.... how insane!
I'll have to see if I can find an app that doesn't have ads that can be downloaded onto the Samsung..... what a shame SAMSUNG should be ASHAMED!!!!!

For the newer Samsung devices that don't default include the Samsung Music Player App anymore, or if one doesn't like the Samsung Music Player App from Galaxy Store, then just download your favourite Music Player App from the app store. VLC is fairly innocent.

thank you, I downloaded the Samsung Music Player knowing it was free and no ads and would work flawlessly on the phone... and it does .. if it only had a close button it would be awesome.
I'll try Musicolet or VLC ...they say the ads are not too bad
thanks again

If when using Samsung Music Player you stop the playback and close the app, does that not work anymore? And, swipe down from the top of the phone and close/dismiss the notification view for the now playing, does that not work anymore either? I haven't used Samsung Music Player in a while, but when I did it never had ads or gave me any problems. I've never seen ads in VLC before either.

I can drag the app up and throw it away and it disappears..... but the music keeps playing.... if I swipe down from the top it shows me the player..... it lets me pause next or back and shuffle and repeat... but NO X ANY PLACE.... if I click close all... the music keep playing.... no matter what I do there is no X and no way to stop the music ( other than pause )
sadly Samsung really screwed this one up

When using the app, there should be a pause or stop playing music button. With the music not playing, you should be able to close the app or close all, then swipe down from the top and see it still in notification view (but still not playing), then slide that to the left out of the way like dismissing any other notification. At that point, it's basically gone/closed, and still not playing, right?

OH MY GOD it was that easy!!!!!! Slide to the left..... I had no idea!! It works!!! You have no idea how much you helped me..
THANK YOU

I have the S24 ULTRA and I had the same issue. Even though I thought it was off, every time I got into my car, the damed music started playing. I finally deleted all music and the music app. I'll stick with my Sony NW A55 which sounds a whole lot better anyway

For me with my other phone, the Samsung Music app didn't seem to work with Android Auto so I started using VLC. Even with the last played still showing in notifications, for me it doesn't start when I get into my car. There is an Android Auto setting about starting music automatically. Maybe also check that.
