How to activate/check warranty?

I got my S5 off of Amazon 2 weeks ago. I read somewhere that I have to get my phone registered for Samsung to know that my device has been activated. There should be information about my remaining warranty period too. So can anyone please tell me how to register the device and check for my current warranty?

I'm pretty sure you can go on Samsungs website and register your device I remember doing that with my s2 though I haven't bothered with my S5..

Could you please provide me with a link? Do I have to go to SS local website or just use any SS international website? And I am completely lost when trying to find a specific place to register my device in those sites.

sorry I'm on my Nexus 9 and it doesn't like to copy and paste websites
the best I can do for you now it's just Google Samsung product registration and then go down to the little click boxes it's only a few questions & asks for your imei (which can be found on your phone by clicking settings, about device, status and scroll down to imei) as I recall and then you should be registered.

edit to add, you'll have to login to the Samsung Account or create one.
also the USA site is fine if you're in the us.
