Hi, all:
This is going to seem really dumb. I'm 72. Most folks would say I'm a smart guy, but this simple thing has me stumped. I need to attach a photo to a text message. Couldn't figure it out so I googled it. The first step in most procedures tells me to start my text message and then tap the "paper clip" attachment icon. One other procedure said to tap the "+" icon. I can't find either of these on my text message screen. I've tapped every icon on the screen and none of them gets me any option to attach a photo.
I've attached a picture of my screen, where I have started a text message to my niece and need to attach a photo.
Sorry if this is a waste of someone's time. I know it should be simple. People do it all the time.
Best
Mike

From someone who often sends photos with her texts I hope I'm able to help haaaa??

Not sure which messenger app that is but I'd suggest clicking on to the three dots all the way on the right side to see what other options there are?? There should be something there that would lead you to open up your gallery and attach said photo??!!

That or the round thing besides it which I think is settings to see if there's something there. You're right about using a " + " since that's what I'd often using sending my photos but I use Textra as my messenger app. Good luck!

I also don't recognize that user interface. Can you tell us which messaging app you're using?

Try tapping the right-facing arrowhead to the left of the text entry field, and see if that gives you any options.

Hi, guys:
I'm using the Samsung Messenger app that came with the phone. Hmm. I have a little red face just now. I thought I had pressed every icon on that screen, but apparently I missed that "right arrow" thing. There are some options under that. I need to figure out how to navigate that menu, but it looks to be the way to get it done. If I get stuck, I'll be back.
Thank you all very much for the help!
Best

Thank you for that link. That should be all I need. I did succeed in sending a picture to my niece. Figuring out how to find the pictures on the phone is still a little bit up in the air, but I'm working on it. I apparently need to learn how to organize files on my phone, but that is for another time.
Thanks for the help!!
