If I want to erase and reset my Pixel, what's the best procedure to save everything, wipe and restore everything? Well I know I have to re-download the apps but what about other settings? Yes, I do mean similar to how if I backup an iPhone, wipe and reset and restore, it looks like before I wiped it. How do we do that in Android?

By default, those features should be turned on. Go into settings > backup and reset and review the settings.

Also, if you go into the Google Drive app, go to settings > backup > manage backups you can see what apps are actually backing up their data. That list of apps is dependent on the developer supporting the API level needed to have that feature.

When I go to settings > backup > manage backups, I've got both "Samsung Cloud Backup" AND "Google Account Backup", however, after my Nougat upgrade, it was the "Google" Restore that brought my phone back to looking the way it did when it was still running Marshmallow (meaning same Apps, desktop layout, wallpaper... look and feel). I had just done a full "Google Backup" 3 days before the Nougat Upgrade - so "hallux" is correct!
