How to cast Samsung galaxy S2 to Lcd monitor?

I have a Samsung S2 phone which is now permanently mounted on the microscope to take pictures of specimens. As the phone is quite old, I have used cynogenmod on it replacing the touchwiz software.

I have tried Google Chromecast first-generation - doesn't work. It works with other phones, just not the S2. I have bought and tried a micro USB to Hdmi port. Does not work. Any ideas how to cast it to a monitor?

So you have a S2 running Cyanogenmod but which version? The Google Home app, the default app to manage a Chromecast (and do things like screen cast), states it will run on Android v.4.03 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and above. If you're on anything below Cyanogen 9 could you upgrade it?

It is running cynogenmod ver 11. It has the cast function however when I try to cast it, it disconnects after connecting. It is able to try to login into Chromecast. Any ideas why? Maybe I should flash a different rom?

I'd try installing the Google Home app and see if that connects better to your Chromecast.

You mentioned other phones work OK with your Chromecast so that tentatively rules out something like a home networking issue but is your S2 working out OK as far as WiFi connectivity? (Just to eliminate that as being a part of the problem.)
