How to change icons created from Chrome's "Add To Desktop" feature?

In the Chrome browser tools menu, you can "Add To Desktop" a link to the current url. Chrome creates a grey square icon with a letter or number on it and it's labelled whatever you wish. I'd like to change that icon to something more meaningful but all of the icon changers I see in the Play store only change the icons for actual apps, not this kind of shortcut. How can I change these shortcuts added to my Android desktop?

What phone do you have. You can use a custom launcher, like Nova, and change that icon using an icon pack or even a pic from your gallery. Some apps, like Minimal Text, will let you create an icon with just text, if you fancy that.
