AC Question

I recently purchased the LG G6 through Verizon and I was wondering, does anyone know how to change the system fonts using an outside application such as iFont without have to root or jail-break my phone? Every time I attempt to do this, it claims I need to have my phone rooted. Also, I attempted to use the Go Launcher however, it doesn't change the font throughout my entire phone which is what I am looking for. If anyone can give me some kind of an answer, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

If the app says your phone needs to be rooted then yes you need to root it. Keep in mind though that some apps use root for more advanced features so i'd suggest to read if it's the case or not first.

System-wide fonts can only be changed if you can log in as superuser, which is what rooting allows (and jailbreaking allows on iPhones). One thing to be wary of, though - some font apps, like some other apps, don't work correctly. If a game misbehaves, you just close it and uninstall it. If a font app misbehaves, you have no way to see what's on your screen, so you'd have to hope that you can get to the download screen and reflash the ROM.

Apparently you can download additional system fonts from LG SmartWorld, but most of the ones they have are silly-looking (is this a Korean thing to prefer non-serious fonts?), and I am leery of the device snooping that the agreement to use SmartWorld with a "device account") promises. I have a favorite font that I was able to use with iFont on previous devices, I really miss it on the LG!

What I'm hopeful of is that eventually someone figures out by analyzing one of these downloaded fonts how to use our own custom fonts via the same method.
