how to check if s4 is unlocked

How do i check to see if my samsung galaxy s4 is unlocked and what carriers i can use to activate it

If the phone is truly unlocked then you should be able to go to any carrier and put in their sim card and it should work theoretically.

downtune is right. The SIM you try in your phone doesn't have to be an 'active' SIM card (I have a Roger's SIM that I keep around for that - I had to trim it from full-sized to mini first though). My carrier of choice is Telus, and once my phone was unlocked (which I had to pay Telus $35 to do for me) and I wanted to test that it actually was, I powered down, removed the Telus SIM and put in the inactive Roger's SIM. Once my phone booted up, the server notification stated "Rogers" - beauty ;-)
