Navigation Bar Buttons Freeze

I have a new S25+ running Android 16/One UI 8.0. I have a weird problem with my navigation bar at the bottom of the screen - at intermittent times the buttons will freeze when I unlock the phone. When that happens I cannot do anything. Can't go to the home screen, can't go back, can't switch apps. I have to lock the phone again by pressing the power button and then unlock it again either with the power button or my fingerprint and then the buttons work. Is this an issue with the phone or a glitch in Android? Can I do anything to fix it? It has been happening ever since I got the phone 2 months ago.

Well here's a very unexpected solution to this problem. Last week a jar fell on my phone which was laying on the floor. It fell from a very low shelf just inches off the floor, but shattered the screen. The phone is only 3 months old!!! So I went to a phone repair place and they ordered a brand new (not refurb) screen assembly from Samsung ($350 job) and ever since I picked it up, the navigation buttons have never frozen! It seems as though there was some kind of factory defect in the lower area of the screen causing it to fail sometimes after being shut off.

Ahh that will explain it
Glad it's fixed, little expensive .

I was reading on other forums that people with Pixel phones have had this and they attributed it to a bug in the Android 16 update, but Google does use screens made by Samsung Display so I wonder if this is possibly a defective batch of screens across the board and should warrant a recall. I think the only difference is in how the digitizer is tuned for each maker's phone specs such as brightness etc.
