[How to] Clockworkmod recovery/ Return to Stock / Use Odin

yes but i would also back them up to your google account and/or backup assistant both can be found at

settings >accounts and settings> to sync google, check auto sync>press your google account on the bottom>this will give you options to sync , choose contacts

sick!

thanks a lot man, you and many others have really made these the whole "hacking" process easier with these threads. i've been thinking of writing up a n00b faq that simply explains some of the terms and processes to get started in customizing once I get further along. its something I thought i would have needed a few weeks ago when I finally decided that the stock VERIZON fascinate is garbage and decided the bloatware had to go. I'm also a graphic designer, and I want to make my phone look the way I want it. I don't have all day to work on it, but I'll get there. apps are next! one of the perks of working for a company that makes phone software is having a handful of engineers :)

why do you want to get rid of it...... are you trying to unroot or just get rid of the app?

I downloaded Rom Manager yesterday and first thing I did was to make a backup. The phone turned off, then went into recovery mode. No problem I think, just hit the reboot system link. The triangle with the little android guy comes on, and on, and on. Nothing happens. Oh crap, don't panic. DroidX said not to panic I was thinking. I pull battery, press power button, and phone goes into recovery, again, select reboot....nothing. I press update.zip file.....nothing.

Now I start checking the forums. Don't panic says DroidX. Two hours go by and I'm beginning to panic. I know DroidX says not to, but it's hard not to. I am a master motorcycle mechanic and expert motocrosser racer, not a "phone geek". 3 1/2 hours go by and I'm thinking I will be without my phone for awhile when I select the update button once again. Nothing again. My head is beginning to hurt from reading all the forum posts when I look down and notice the triangle and droid guy are no longer lit up, but dulled down. They are still there, but not bright like before. I then select reboot and the triangle and droid guy light up. Once again, nothing happens. I need Droid X's phone number I am thinking when at least 20 minutes later, the phone reboots and everything starts back up.

I then load Adrnalyne's test 3 through Rom Manager even though I am gun shy at this point about using it. It loads with no problem and reboots. Woops, lost all my apps and everything else. Didn't see that coming but since I had backed up everything using Titanium Backup, that was not a problem.

So, my questions are:
Do I try using Rom Backup to backup the phone again and what happened?
Why did it take so long to reboot? I think the phone would of eventually rebooted but was I just impatient and didn't give it enough time?

I got my samsung fascinate, rooted it and installed a voodoo lag fix, i beleive the file i downloaded was voodoo D02 1200 LV. i installed it and it went through the steps the voiced came on and i was able to overclock to 1200 no problem and everything is running perfect. my question is i did this when the phone still had D101 which if i'm not wrong thats the original fascinate software. now i would like to upgrade to DL09 but ive heard u have to take voodoo off completely before being able to do anything. What i am lost in is that when i manually go to CWR on the phone the GREEN recovery is the one that pops up and to remove voodoo they say u have to have a RED one if im not wrong. The Kernel info on the phone says 2.69.2 or something like that but thats it, nothing else, and i read if u have voodoo its suppose to say some thing extra. So im positive that i installed the voodoo but the CWR is green and the kernel model dont re inforce it,

I want to remove voodoo to flash the latest version but i dont know how to start, i understand u have to create folders and name it somehow but i cant boot into recovery and press on voodoo --> disable lag fix .... cuz i dont have that option on my GREEN recovery

Help is greatly appreciated ..

thank sorry for the long post

I think you will need section 3 of the clockwork post but you will need to boot directly into recovery and flash a DI01 kernel before booting again...then you will have red clock work and be able to disable lag fix

Hey DroidX, if I wanted to go back to Dl01 throgh the file that is posted in post 3, I would take voodoo out then flash that .tar through odin and I should be back to stock?

Then should I get the OTA Dl09 throgh verizon and be able to install? And is it possible to root the stock Dl09 so like that I'll have the legit Dl09 and be rooted. Is that possible or is it more steps rather than just flash Dl01 through odin?

After I would be in Dl09 I would follow section 2 on post 2 (clockwork) and through that aquire CWMR and root.

That's my plan just not sure if its right

I have an issue, trying to install clockwork for the first time using section 2 and when I boot into recovery (blue recovery) I select to apply update.zip (which is installed in the root directory of my sd card) my phone does a progress bar and only gets through about 1/3 of it, then it dissappears and just the white triangle with the exclamation point and the android guy, been like 10 mins. I've pulled the battery 3 times and retried it, redownloaded update.zip retired, still sitting there. what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance....

did you leave the battery out during the odin flash, then after it was done did you put the battery back in and boot directly into recovery mode, if you boot it normal before entering recovery you need to start over

I guess I didn't do this right. How do I apply the odin flash. In the post it says the walkthrough is in post #5 but post #5 is credits. Am I missing something?

ok, sorry, I just wanted to be sure.

So just so I'm clear, all this does is give me the clockwork mod then right? or does this actually flash the rom?

as long as you flash the CWM file yes it just gives you clockwork
