Android Central Question

Hi, recently bought a tcl20xe running android 11 and my lovely housemates hacked it. This is the 4th phone they've done it with, and theyve had no physical access to it.
I experience unexpected freezes and shutdowns, my internet connection cuts out when they want It to, they've talked at length about private matters only accessible through my phone and they read my screen out loud as I type or read. I know for a fact they have access to all the sensors(camera, mic &proximity+ all.) And use them to humiliate me.

I want to know how they managed to get into it, in layman's terms, and how to prevent it from happening in the future + how to collect evidence of the crimes.

Lot of it sounds like phone glitches especially a low spec device as the tcl20xe , as for them reading stuff out you are housemates maybe they heard you speaking when u thought it was in private but any case speak to a lawyer.

Best thing I can give advice is change account password and use 2 factor authentication.

Welcome to Android Central! Sounds like you need new housemates. In the meantime, read these:

[GUIDE] How To Avoid Malware - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Remember, it's very difficult to get "hacked" in the Hollywood sense, as long as you follow the common sense guidelines discussed in those links. Cases of being hacked usually has more to do with social engineering (like phishing, sharing passwords carelessly, forgetting to log out of your account on shared devices, etc.) rather than actual malware. The average schmoe doesn't know anything about hacking, so unless your housemates are tech wizards, it's unlikely to be malware.
