I've tried killing it - inadvertantly. They generally grow at around 6,000 feet in poor, rocky soil. So, they like water but not too much as they grow in good draining soil. They are spectacular in the Fall, when hundreds of them turn a golden hue. I believe that nurseries have a few varieties. The needles are incredibly soft and the branches very springy so that they bend under the weight of snow but don't easily break off.Your Larch tree is cool. I never heard of Larch trees before. Are they easy or hard to look after?
