(NOTE: haven't bought the phone yet)

I had about 2 minutes to play with the phone today at the mall, before I had to run, and couldn't find a way to create a customized view of my contacts.
Is this still possible? This is a critical feature I use for contact management on my VZW Galaxy Nexus. :-X

I've used many other peoples phones, and sadly I've noticed that Samsung and HTC both removed this funtionality.
Currently I have around a thousand contacts in my google contacts, but through a customized view with group selections I only display about 100-200 in my Contacts and Phone apps (these are separate apps on the nexus and google experience phones). NOTE that they're all still available on the phone through 1) Groups navigation or 2) Search. It's still important that they be there for Caller-ID of course.

I use contacts+ widget

Sure, you're basically saying you don't use the provided dialer/contacts/sms apps.
That's one route you can take, but I was more asking about the Sony apps.
I try to limit the apps I install that require permissions to my identity and contacts to only developers/companies I *trust*.

I do use them, but for instant dialing purpose I use the widget. I have two copies of it, one for coworkers other for family with everyone's portraits. All I have to do is tap the portrait to make a call.

I wonder if you're talking about the Contacts filter setting. You can filter out the contacts you don't want displayed.
