How to disable 5G on Samsung S20 FE 5G ?

The Samsung S20 FE 5G has a rather SERIOUS glitch that I seem to be the only person to wonder about.

The phone will drop a perfectly good 4G connection if IT even senses any 5G connection, even if unusuable (low signal)...it will force the phone onto 5G and I cannot do anything with data. I tried and tried to get the phone back onto the 4G network so I could download files...but there is no apparent way for this.

1. How could such an obvious defect make it to the public?
2. How can I turn this off? 5G is super weak around here and it's disabling my phone to switch to it.
3. Is there a way to manually set the threshold of 5G signal strength so that you can tell the phone not to go to 5G unless of X signal strength?
4. Verizon told me I had to have an entirely new chip put into my phone to make it 4G only. That cant be right, especially since this is a DESIGN FLAW...

So...I've tried to alert verizon, samsung, google..nobody seems to care that their phones are forcing people onto non-usable 5G networks and killing their ability to use their phone....without the user permission.

I want to tell my phone what to do, I don't want it to tell me what I am allowed to do.. HOW DO I FIX THIS? IT'S RUINING MY LIFE SINCE THEY PUT 5G NEAR MY APARTMENT AND MY PHONE WON'T USE 4G BUT THE 5G SIGNAL IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO USE!!

I'm not sure about US carriers but in international Samsung models you can select your preferred Network mode in the Connections settings. This is from an A52s 5G, for example.

I know that AT&T hides the network selection option in Settings, but I didn't know that Verizon did that too.

The really evil thing is, once it has you in 5G mode, it locks you out of any of the phone network carrier settings. Even the verizon guy on the phone with me looking at my phone screen was tripping.

...
It may indeed seem to be you are the only person with this same issue, or at least it's such a rare occurrence that there's just not a noticeable uproar from other S20 FE users on Verizon. Did you buy an carrier unlocked phone or a carrier-locked phone from Verizon. If the latter that might be part of the problem as the phone would have come with a preinstalled 5G SIM card. Also, it is not Samsung's nor Google's responsibility about your carrier-related problems, these are Verizon issues. Or in simpler terms, Google provides just the Android operating system. Samsung just made the phone. As long as the phone is fully functional and the installed operating system working as it should, the problems you're having with your chosen carrier are your responsibility. You've chosen Verizon as your carrier and you need to deal with Verizon. If this is a carrier-locked phone and the phone is actually preset to block otherwise usable cellular connectivity settings, you need to take your phone to a Verizon store and have them fix the problem. Either provide you with 4G SIM or make the necessary alterations to correct your cellular service problem. Quit whining about fabricated scenarios in an online help forum, go to an actual Verizon shop to have this taken care of.

Verizon won't fix this or Att as they have this blocked from users , but the app I mentioned should get OP going and much easier solution then waiting for something that will never happen untill they decide to toggle it on .

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G
GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE / 5G

2G bands
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2 (Dual SIM model only)
CDMA 800 / 1900 & TD-SCDMA

3G bands
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO

4G bands
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66, 71 - USA
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 26, 28, 32, 38, 40, 41, 66 - International

5G bands
2, 5, 41, 66, 71 Sub6 - USA
1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 40, 41, 78 Sub6 - International

The above bands/frequencies are cut and paste from the specs posting for your model of phone. Despite your claims otherwise, your phone will and does include a number of 4G bands. Keep in mind these involve the actual cellular radio chip that's soldered onto the logic board inside your phone. These are the bands and frequencies the phone can use. A SIM card does not determine what bands or frequencies a phone can support, it cannot add or remove any of them. A SIM card simply retains your user account info with your carrier. The SIM card your carrier provides just allows the phone the card is placed inside to use that carrier's cellular network.
If you cannot get Verizon to fix your problem, stop wasting time fighting with Verizon. Talk to your neighbors which carrier they use and switch.

Are we saying Verizon does not allow toggle off 5G on all phones ?
Most likely don't have a toggle, Att hides it , just like carrier version Att didn't have a data toggle in notifications panel but unlocked on ATT does , carrier take features out or are hidden that's the way it works with Samsung US versions once u put your sim in unlocked or carrier version you see features there or carrier took them out . TMO has it both versions unlocked/carrier
