How do I open Bixby? Do I have to hold down the button or swipe right on home screen or can I do voice command like "Ok Bixby" like you can with Google Assistant?
If you've never setup Bixby, press the Bixby button and set it up. Then follow the setup and go to your tutorials and learn how to use it.

Lol I don't work for Samsung. I just like my Note phones and my Spen. I accepted that there was gonna be a Bixby button and I decided to learn how to use Bixby and how to hold my phone and where to place my fingers. I just never fed into youtubers and other users saying how bad Bixby is, the button blah blah blah. I decided I'd be adult about it and use it and not complain and repeat what I heard someone else say about it. It you wanna remap it I guess you have to find a way. Or just learn how to use Bixby.

I don't know if you mean to, but your posting sounds rather condescending. First, we accepted that we would get a Bixby button, but we should expect to be able to remap it. For example, when I purchased my house I totally understood it came with the most hideous carpet. After taking ownership, I was able to adjust this to my liking. We can't remove the buttons (that is structural) but we should be able to change the software (cosmetic). In fact, I can easily remap the other 2 buttons with way less issues than Bixby. I find that rather funny and very telling of just how it is being forced on us.

Also, many of us have tried Bixby and are not just repeating what others have said on the forums or on YouTube. I know this is crazy, but some folks really just don't like talking *at* their phone and find it much easier (and politer to those around them) to click one or two times.

Finally, we understand that it doesn't compete with Google Assistant and Siri, but it is a voice AI. Why do the other guys "just work" and we have to take a tutorial to find out how to make Bixby work? Also, as pointed out, in the car GA just rocks and the car is just where I need to be hands free and am willing to talk *at* my phone.

I really did try to give Bixby a try. I did the tutorial and even set up some routines. I forced myself to use it for a bit, but ended up changing my buttons on the phone and on my headsets to open up Google Assistant instead. The truth is 99% of the time when I do want to interface with my phone hands free it's because I want to call or text someone, locate or find a business, and finally figure out when how to get somewhere. I rarely don't have my phone already in my hands and think about changing or adjusting a setting and the ones that do need adjusted are already automatically adjusted without me clicking or saying a thing.

I never expected to be able to remap the button which may be why I have no problem that I can't. I know there are people who won't like the same things and like all the features of the phone.

As far as Samsung forcing it on us? Yea, (not being condescending, but we didn't have to buy it. Therefore we can't really say they are forcing it on us. I think Samsung hoped we would like their product, Bixby. Some don't, some do. It's like when they decided to build a phone with a Spen. They hoped we would like it.

People who don't like talking to their phones in public don't have to when using Bixby or GA. Because with Bixby you can type whatever assistance you may need. All of that info is listed in the tutorial help settings.

The reason you have to go to the tutorial section to learn is just like any other thing you need to learn. You have to find out how to use it. I think the problem for some is that they're trying to use it and use phrases like they use with GA. That's where the frustration may be for some. Some phrases will work for both but like you said you know they aren't the same. They both are AI but not identical. That's why the others just work and you have to learn Bixby because Bixby is not the same kind of AI as the others are. You already know how to use the others already.

I use Bixby in my vehicle. When I start it my phone connects thru bluetooth and I'm set to do whatever I need it to do.

Everyone will find what is best for them to use or not use as far as Bixby and GA are concerned. It's good that you at least gave it a try. The reason I've commented on this subject is because reading people comments, listening to YouTubers they all compare it to GA and Siri. That's why I say checkout the tutorials and people will see that it's designed to assist you with the phone functions, apps and interface with the phone. But it's able to do somethings that GA and Siri can do.

Bixby isn't perfect but I'm glad Samsung included it on my the phone.
