How to disable Caller ID voice announcement on S5?

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

I Finally figured out on my new Samsung Galaxy S5 how to shutoff the annoying call id readout.
First turn on Hands free mode.
Then went into settings => Language and Input => Notification readout
then unchecked calls from favourite contacts
Then finally after all that convolutedness you can uncheck hands free mode.

Isn't that stupid but is works. Now if you ever want hands free read out for calls you have to go and check that again. That's a really stupid way to do it. Samsung shouldn't be hiding settings like this.

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

Accessibility > Vision > Talkback > Settings (at bottom) > Under Speech Category - Untick Speak Caller ID

This worked for me. It was driving us nuts!

Re: Phone speaking name of caller - Turning off Caller Announcement - Galaxy S5

There was a whole string of suggestions that didn't work. This does. . .

From the home screen, tap phone icon, tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner, tap settings, tap call, tap answering and ending calls, uncheck voice control. Done!

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! With that *stupid* voice, my phone would only ring twice. Now I'm getting all ringing, and no voice. THANK YOU FOR FINDING THE ANSWER!!! :)

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

Hi Guys

I also had this problem with the annoying caller ID with my S5! !

I have disabled mine finally and this is how I did it:

Accessibility > Vision > Talkback > Settings (at bottom) > Under Speech Category - Untick Speak Caller ID

All done!!

Hope this helps

this is what worked for me. Although the talk back is off, you still have to untick this in the settings under talkback.

I was able to still have voice control.

First of all, Do methods that my friends said. If your problem not solved, look other apps (below list) setting that you installed on your phone.
Apps list::
1. Voice changers
2. Call spoof
3. Voice of text
That works for me

Good luck

Galaxy S4(android 4.4.2) solution:
Settings > My Device > Hands-free Mode > Incoming call > Uncheck

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

Settings--->Accessibility--->Answering and ending calls (near bottom)---> Voice Control (uncheck)

This also worked for me thank you

Omg! Thank you so much!! I tried all of the other suggestions above and nothing worked. This was the only one.

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

This is such a personal thing........... :)

I just turned it back ON after having it OFF for months.

Makes it easier to see if I want to bother getting the phone out of my pocket just to see what telemarketer is bugging me today.

But, I have my favorite people set up with special rings anyway....

Re: How to disable Caller ID voice announcement on S4?

How to disable Caller ID voice announcement on S4...

1. Unlock screen, open Menu and tap Settings
2. Swipe down & tap Language & Input
3. Swipe down and tap Text-to-speech output
4. Swipe down and tap Driving mode to have box ticked
5. Now tap Driving mode settings
6. Make sure Incoming call box is not ticked so callers name is not announced
7. Go back to Driving mode, tap and remove the tick from the box.
8. Just remember if you want the voices turned back on for when you are driving you will have to go back in to Step no. 6 and tick the box.

:p Now you are ready to go anywhere and not have those annoying voices telling you who is calling. :D

Note: On Android 4.4.4, there is no more car mode / hands-free mode - apparently, that mode is a Android stock App, which has not been maintained for years, and is thus not compatible with 4.4.4, and has been thrown out (at least on my new Galaxy S4 mini).

You need to install a Car Mode App such as Car Home Ultra (free trial version) in order to be able to access the checkboxes regarding caller etc. readout. Once installed, these checkboxes were activated, even after de-installing the Car Mode App right after.

Hope this helps - took me several hours to figure out.

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

Make sure that you don't have "Hands-free mode" turned on. Under settings, phone.

Re: Phone speaking name of caller

Found it...
Language and input
read notifications aloud
uncheck all that junk

I found this by using the s finder thing that I now love! It took a few different keywords, but I finally got it

Thank you, SO MUCH. Took me so damn long to fix this
