How to disable Huawei Mate 9 Oreo Picture in Picture?

This is infuriating me. I'm about to factory reset until a working solution is found:

I hate the picture-in-picture "feature" for google maps and youtube which was rolled out with Android version 8 (Oreo.) Worse yet, I can't find a way to disable it on my Huawei Mate 9. The following guide can be found through google searches, however it doesn't work on Huawei. When you get to the step that says "Tap on advanced" you're at the end of its usefulness. There is no advanced option.

Forgive me if I'm being ignorant as I have the mate 10. But if you go Apps & notifications > apps > settings cog > special access and the settings are in there on an app by app basis.
