i want to disable sim connectivity (sms/calls everything) to save battery. but i want to keep sim in phone, because if i want to make a call, i would turn on Sim connectivity, make call, turn off Sim connectivity.
i have 2 numbers (and 2 phones) , one number is primary and always on, 2nd is secondary and i use it rarely, i want to turn off sim usage because i have tested that, if i remove sim card , phone battery works for 2 days (with wifi). but if sim card is inserted and even no calls no sms, battery only lasts for 1 day.

Go to setting- >mobile network-> data connection. Here you will be asked about to assign mobile data connection to both or single sim. If you don't want to use a sim, then switch it off.

As Cabsco said you can switch airplane mode on and that will disable all your SIM connectivity. While on airplane mode you can switch WiFi on when you need it. The WiFi connection will work with no problem even with your SIM card disabled.

Even not making any calls your phone will try to connect with the network towers all the time and that's the reason your battery dies faster, especially in areas with bad signal.
