I am new to android phones and I am pretty savvy with computers and electronics in general. I have rooted my phone and even put in some roms that haven't required a "wipe". But I see this word thrown around and I am having the hardest time finding out its meaning.

So what I am trying to ask is how in the world do I "WIPE" my sprint HTC hero before I install a new rom.

incase it helps I am trying to play with 2.0b right now for kicks if that makes answering any easier.

I believe it means to boot recovery mode, select wipe then select wipe data/factory reset. At least that's what I do. Hope that helps.

Also when I installed 2.0b I couldn't get it to boot til I wiped the dalvik cache also then it would boot. Not sure what it is but it worked.

I usually wipe the dal, but I didnt know the factory reboot was the wipe, I had read somewhere about the partition wipe being the wipe. I am riding the edge of messed up programming and bricking my phone :-)

its official...you are the man. Totally worked. I am 2.1 up and running. dont think I have the sense ui though. have to look into that.
