[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

I just got a class 10 16GB Patriot and I get the same thing. I am not prompted for a password when I put the image on a samsung 8GB. Maybe it is the Patriot brand?

okay i give up!!!!!!

This is total ****ing garbage. None of the methods listed work at all to get my NC with SD HC to work with adb to install marketplace. Exactly y i wanted to avoid using this crap. For the love of poop, i cannot get adb to list the device or driver to install or anything to get the apk to install for marketplace.
ive tried:
1) USB debug
2) google usb driver,
3) several reboots PC and NC
4) easyadb installer pack (the one for the driver)
5) uninstall of usb drivers (what a mess)
6) assignin path to adb in environment variables (what a hassle, some have different paths, ie. in what location is installed)
7) downloading driver for NC.

NONE OF THIS **** WORKS FOR ME. SO IM OUT screw this.

unless someone can give me stupid step by step guidelines. oh wait did that and dont freaking work.

Grrrrrrr.........

Yes you type them exactly, but two things to check:

1) you have ADB and/or the SDK installed. Try here:[DRIVER PACK] Easy USB ADB Installer for Windows (32/64 bit) - xda-developers

2) you've copied the files to the correct directory and are running ADB from that directory.

Ok, I'm opening a command promt from within the "platform tools" folder that does contain the Vendor and GoogleServicesFramework. BUT it keeps telling me "no device found"! Windows said the driver was functioning correctly. Please, for the love of God someone shed some light on this for me. What else can I try other than the instructions? I've been at this sence 3:30pm yesterday.

I dealt with this for 3 hours today. The problem: the laptop I was using on Windows 7 didnt recognize the Nook. I popped it into my desktop with Windows Vista... 5 minutes and I was done. Maybe try using a different computer. It worked for me atleast.

If I reboot my computor into ubantu to get it done, will I have to start it all over from step #1?

FINALLY!!!!!!

Well, I finally figured it all out. It is done. I LOVE IT. Thanx to everyone who held my hand through this set up.

One last question though. EXACTLY, Step-by-step, how do I load pics and music onto the internal memory or micro sd card.

Again, thanx so much!

The "Enter password to decrypt storage" seems to be directly related to the type of SD card you have in your device. I switched from my Kingston 32GB Class 6 down to a SanDisk Ultra 8GB Class 4 and now Honeycomb boots just fine without asking for a password.

Still working on getting my Mac to see my NOOKcolor over ADB.

I followed the directions to a t but when I click " restore physical image to drive" the page opens but no drives show up in the box. What.am I doing wrong? Please help.

When you click "restore Virtual disk to physical drive" it should pull up a window that shows you your possible flash card drives. If not, that should be the first step - making sure the flash memory is recognized. You may need to try Easus partition manager and make sure that it's not "un-partitioned" and also that it is formatted to FAT32.

After that, you'll need to change the file types that the program is looking for. Like you would if searching for a .iso, .nfo, .exe, etc in different programs. Then navigate to where you have EXTRACTED the .img file out to.

This should probably get put somewhere in the first post, but yes, I too had the issue with the password encryption on my Wintec 16gb CL10. I loaded it onto a 8GB from my old BB Storm (only class 2) and everything seems to work pretty well actually.

If you are prompted for a password at Honeycomb boot, you need a different card.

So I went and downloaded nook for android from the market... its saying that it needs a sd card for the app. do i have to partition the sd card that has honeycomb on it to use some apps?

What did you to get this to work? Ive been having this same issue of device not found with command prompt. Im using W7 x64. Really want to have access to the marketplace before i trash HC and wait another 2 months.

sorry being an ass with everyone here, but got it to work at least it shows android phone on my manager device now. I had to plug in NC in native state, uninstall its driver, unplug from USB, reboot with HC off uSD card, replug and from there on it worked.

Ok, Honestly it was trial and error. When you unpack Nookcolor-easyADB it must be unpacked to "C:". Once it has finished unpacking to "C:", open the new android-sdk-windows folder, then the platform tools folder. Somewhere inside the folder, hold shift and rightclick an empty spot, Select "Open Command prompt here". Now, at this point, HC needs to be installed and running with the NC powered on. Plug it in to your usb port. and start typing the command promt text into the black prompt screen EXACTLY as it appears including the spaces . Once you type the reboot sequence, sit back and watch the NC reboot back into HC. Once its rebooted, unplug the NC and look inside the apps menue on the upper rt corner of the screen. If the Market is not there simply restart your NC and it should appear then. Thats how I did it. It is done as the instructions dictated except the instructions left out step-by-step details assuming that we are all quite comp. literate. But It gave me enough info to figure it out. Hope this helps and answers your question.

Yes this helps, but the issue was it did not find the device. Like i mentioned before I had to uninstall the NC driver (with NC attached and in native OS), then install the drivers, and that worked.

I got the marketplace to work finally as well, but:

1) where are the apps being downloaded to? I cant find them.
2) why do they take forever to download? I have wireless N and no network/internet speed issues and currently NC only device attached to router
3) Do these need to be pushed onto NC via adb? if so, how is this done?

Thanks.

Mine didnt appear to be connected either. I went to control panel, devices, device manager and found my nook there. I opened it an it indicated that the driver was opperating right.

Been running the honeycomb v4 rom and it works pretty well. Almost good enough to be a daily driver. Major props to deeperblue, Will Shanklin, and nookdevs.com. Kind of a bit laggy though, anyone get overclocking to work on v4? If so, what kernel? I'm kind of hesitant to flash until we get ASOP. Also youtube won't play sd or hd videos, but I can live without that. Use it mostly for reading. Can't wait for the AOSP to drop.

For step 3A. ,Win32DiskImager worked for me in case WinImage doesn't work (which was the case here). Everything else was smooth sailing! Thanks for great instructions.
