[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

I have noticed that several people are having trouble with the ADB section (only because I am in the same boat) and was hoping that someone could post a solution for us.

The first adb command returns the following:

*daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
*daemon started successfully *
error:device not found

This is the last step I need to start enjoying the sweet honeycomb goodness. Thanks in advance!

Apparently, the way windows 7 is set up on my laptop, I had to run it as administrator. I burnt another image onto an 8gb micro sd card and now my wireless is working like it's supposed to. Only problem I'm experiencing now is that my device is not recognized by my computer when it's running honeycomb. I've downloaded the usb drivers using Android SDK, but it's still not being recognized, anyone got any tips or ideas?

EDIT: To clarify, it's recognized, but it's not being recognized as an ADB device. When I run the adb devices in the command prompt, it just shows a blank line under list of devices. Like previously stated, I have the USB drivers all installed.

Do you see the device in device manager as nookcolor or in a new 'Android Phone' section as 'Android Composite ADB Interface'?

I also found that win32 worked fine. I had trouble with winimage and tried win32 finally and it worked fine. also have used it to backup the image

I saw this the first time I tried. It turned out that the unlabeled write-protect switch on the adapter had moved to the read-only position.

did you issue this command on adb before pushing the apk?
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system

this mounts the storage in read/Write mode.

Stupid questions were can I find the adb tools folder
to install market?

On my Windows XP machine the path to find adb is
D:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
Should be similar in other Windows platforms as well
EDIT
I assume you've installed android sdk prior to trying this out. If not, install Android SDK first.

Thanks! I was able to get my 1.0.1 Nook Color running last night. I did have to dig around for a few critical pieces of info, especially the Nook USB ADB driver, but once I was able to get that working, it was pretty smooth sailing. I can't wait for an updated ROM with a more updated Market App. I showed it off to a few of the iPad users in the office and they were all impressed that it only cost me $220.

So if you can take the ard out and boot to the orginol nook color homescreen will this void the warenty.
posted with a nook color

Yes i am getting the same return on froyo as well. i have the unit listed as adb composite device in device manager, when i run adb devices it shows up with the numbers from my previous post. I run the adb shell mount out of the folder where the adb.exe is located and adb push from the same according to the OP. No i have another issue when i do run the adb shell mount i am getting a return of /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 not found. I enjoy a challange as well as the next guy but this?? Any help advice assistance would be greatly appreciated PLEASE

Is there a trick to getting Pandora to install? I installed it from the market and that version does not work. I also tried slacker and again no joy.

I was having the problem too and I was using a WinTech Class 10 16GB card. I returned it and bought a SanDisk Class 4 8GB and it works just fine. I think the password error/problem has something to do with an inferior SD Card, but by no means know for certain. I would recommend to try a different card, perhaps one from your phone????

Sorry for such a stupid question, but how can I transfer my data (mp3, epub, pdf) files from my pc to the NK ?

(HC on a 16 GB SD Card inside and App store running)

First off, there's no such thing as a stupid/dumb questions ;)

I'm sure there are several ways to do it, here a just a couple off the top of my head:
microSD card from PC to NC
Dropbox
plug NC into PC, use as external drive
