[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

OK, been at this for the better part of a day (meaning, no sleep, started last night at 8pm, and I'm exhausted. Got HC installed on the card. Swapped the uImage file, no problem. booted up, it works great...

But no matter what machine I use (win7, XP, Fedora, MacOSX) I can't get ADB to recognize the device.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb
List of devices attached

C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>

I have the driver installed, and it shows up in device manager, but ADB would talk to it. HELP PLEASE, I want to have the market installed, so I can really start using this.

GOT IT.. of course, right after I complain, it works :-)

no magic here, used the nook-color easy adb mentioned in my last post, had to unplug and plug a few times before it worked...

OK, now that I begged for help, then turned around and said "it all works" here are two links for everyone. Pretty simple stuff once you get HC on your NC, use this to get ADB installed and working...

[DRIVER PACK] Easy USB ADB Installer for Windows (32/64 bit) - xda-developers

Then this to install not only the market, but other standards such as google talk, etc

[SCRIPT] Honeycomb Install - Market, GMail, Talk, Contacts, Maps - xda-developers

I hope this helps someone... I'm loving this "dirt cheap" honeycomb tablet.

Anyone know how to get the latest gmail client? I'm only finding the apk for 2.3, I want what the xoom has.

I've had the same thing happen. Attempted to write it to a 8 gb Sandisk, an 8 gb Kingston, and a 16 gb Sandisk. Every time my Win32Imager freezes at 24%, then errors out. I have a feeling it's the imager...

everything deems to work except youtube,is there anything i can do to get it going?

Im running froyo from the Sd card as well. All i did was went into the market and installed the app from there. It looks like it replaced the old one and it works fine now.

I would also like to report initial failure with using a Kingmax 16GB Class 10 card; I had the same problem as other posters - it booted into Honeycomb and then asked for "enter password to decrypt storage".
Then I switched to a Sandisk 16GB Class 2 card, and everything worked!
Yay!

I should also mention that Easeus Partition Master would not recognize the SD card when it was inserted (via a uSD adapter) directly into the SD card slot of my Windows Vista-64 laptop; only when the adapter was placed in a USB SD card reader, did Easeus recognize it and allow me to resize the partition.

You should be good, but resizing the SDCARD partition will pick up the unallocated space. Someone recommended Easeus (free) for this early in the thread and it worked for me.

Can you plz give a step-by-step on how you did it? I tried to repartition my micro SD card to add pics and music but could not figure out how (In E: which file to I partition for this and how). Thanx!

Windows sill only see one of the partitions on the SD card. Thus the reason for a manager program. It's free, it's easy.

1) Load the SD card into your reader.

2) Open up a partition manager type program (EASEUS is free and works like PartitionMagic)

Here you should see all your hard drives and removable storage. For my work laptop with on HD, the SDcard is Disk2.

You should see four(4) different partitions on the sdcard now. The first three are boot, system, and data. Do not touch these. The last one should be something like *: sdcard or no label. This is the one to resize.

3) Right-click on this partition and select resize/move

4) Move the right slider to the right to make it use all the remaining space. Click OK

5) Apply the changes.

6) Use SDcard in the Nook

Great, I'll try it as soon as I get home tonight. Now HOW do i get my music and apps onto it? Do I just open up the E: drive, music or pics folders on the micro sd card, than just drag and drop from my pc or is there another way?

anyone else having issues where the screen seems to spill over the viewable area? any fix to this? In screen grabs and video demos this doesn't seem to be an issue.. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Cannot boot HC from 8gb SD

I downloaded and used winImage to burn HC v4 to a Patriot 8gb Class 4 SD card. When I boot, I see the small 'android' in the bottom left-hand corner, but it never gets past this. I have also used win32disimage and got the same result. I even re-downloaded HC v4 to no avail. Anyone else had this issue? My NC is auto-nooted v3.0.

I have completed the steps to burn Honeycomb on the SD card, and everything worked beautifully. I am, however, having difficulty with the computer recognizing the Nook Color. I am being told that I need to insert the disc that came with the Nook Color, so that the computer can obtain some driver software. Does anyone know what needs to be done? I can't put anything into the platform-tools folder because I can't pull up the Nook on the computer. Can someone help, please?

@chrisandcaity - i fixed this issue while installing market, maps, etc on my HC sd enabled nook - go to this link Install Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Market on Nook Color and check out the "alternative" method to install market (its an auto installer that does all the adb commands for you) - in the first sentence, it mentions you have to install ADB (with link) and load USB drivers (another link) <---- that is what will enable your computer to see the nook... it may take awhile to figure out, but i eventually got it working so you may as well give it a go

I think this may help...

I'm having the same issue with both Nookie Froyo 0.6.7 and HC v4. Any news on this?
