[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

just wondering if its hazardous to the nook color to swap back and forth between honeycomb and the nook os repeatedly during the course of a day...to facilitate reading books since the android nook app seems to freeze it up

I have HC installed, and then I d/l the sdk windows driver from page 53. I click the setup.exe and it says it installed the driver and it's ok to plug in the nook. I do, and nothing else happens.

It only has a drivers folder... to get the the market I need to find a folder with adp.exe, and I'm just not finding that. What am I missing? I feel stuck... the instructions reference the folder with adb tools in it, but nothing I've done has this file in it? I installed the driver, and it seems to show up fine in windows.

3. Place the files in your adb tools folder (or platform-tools on the newer version - wherever adb.exe is)

What's going on here? I would like to get the market

If you just got the file with the drivers, you didn't get all that you needed. Go back and get the full file with ADB and the SDK. Install those and you should have a folder called android-sdk

When I insert an SD Card and power on all that I see is ANDROID_ in green letters and it is completely unresponsive (including the power button). Had to wait until the battery died! Please help! Thanks!

Try reburning the image.

if you are usin win 7 64 bit load the googl adk and vender adk file in the program x86 folder where the android sdk folder>platform_tools ... market came right up after the reboot. works good.... now to get books and tunes on the other 12gb of unused partition of the sd card... any ideas on that?

You may need to use partition management software to increase the storage partition to the rest of the card. After that, dropbox, adb pushes, and sd card copy are some options.

OK...my nook is frozen...followed the steps...wiped the system data and boot...now the system is frozen...100% frozen...what do I do now?

Installing Marketplace to Rooted SD Card

I bought a Honeycomb rooted SD card, without Marketplace, for my Nook Color. I now want to add Marketplace. How can I do it? Can I add it direrctly to the rooted SD Card running on the Nook Color or do I have to add Marketplace to the SD Card through my computer?

Does anyone know how to make the nook color version 1.1 work with nookhoney4.img? I already have it written on my external SD card but the damn thing wont boot to honeycomb all I get it the default Nook as if the microSD card is not even there and when it actually boots it says it cannot read the SD card and is asking me to format it. Can some one please help me. The firmware on my Nook is 1.1. Thanks.

You will want to use the Easy USB ADB Installer for Windows provided by thecubed at the following link.
[DRIVER PACK] Easy USB ADB Installer for Windows (32/64 bit) - xda-developers

This will load the ADB if you have not already. This should also load the usb_drivers for you. After that following the steps to download and install the marketplace on the first page of this thread.

Goodluck

Sounds like something didn't complete on the image burn. My Nook had 1.1 and worked with no issues. Try burning the image again.

I got the same results after I burned the image again on the sd card this is like the 4th time I have done so. I got a ScanDisk 16GB MicroSD card. The card works perfectly well as I can reformatted it and it works with my captivate and Ubuntu reads it as well. I also used Windows this time to burn the image using again WinImage and nothing.

This is totally frustrating, everyone is doing it but I can't this sucks...

What version of WinImage are you using? Someone previous had 8.1 and it didn't work until 8.5. Tried redownloading the image archive file? Re extracting? Just trying to go over any possible thing to try.
