How to edit a phonebook entry?

Hi - I have an LG G2 VS980 32GB 4G LTE Verizon Android. And I posted this to the Android Forums before I knew about this LG forum, so this is a repeat.

This must sound silly. But I have a phone number in my phonebook that starts with 888. It won't connect with just an 888. So I'd like to edit the entry in order to put a 1 in front of it. The phonebook lets me do many things, like make calls and send text messages. It lets me set a ringtone and a notification LED color. The settings let me refresh, delete, share, join, export, add to home screen and set all calls to voice mail. But I cannot see how to edit an entry. Or is that not what the phonebook is for?

There should be either a pencil icon (usually at the top right) or an Edit entry in the menu. You should be able to edit the phone number. (You can't edit whether it's a Google, Phone or SIM entry for some reason only Google understands.)

And if you're in North America (Canada or the US - Mexico is considered Central America in the telephonic industry), you don't need the 1 in front of a phone number - all numbers are assumed to be North American numbers unless there's a + in front of the number, then it assumes a country code follows. (It's done at the carrier's office, so I'd contact the carrier's tech support number and, if they have incompetent tech support people, ask to speak to engineering or networking. (I still have my old cellphone number, but I moved to a different area code, so I have to dial the area code for almost every number I call - and not one of them has a 1 in front.) If your carrier treats toll free numbers (what used to be called in-WATS) differently than other area codes when called from a cellphone in a country with 1 as the country code (The US and Canada), they're doing it wrong.
