How to effectively use a task killer with Froyo

I have cleaned up the off topic chat lets remember to stay on topic and play nice guys.

I haven't been up on this thread for a while.

But, just for the record... I was in a Verizon store and talking to someone who seems to know his stuff.

I know this has already been stated probably, but he said they contacted google to get the final word on 2.2 and task killers.... google said pre - 2.2 they were needed, but in 2.2 they are not needed.

Just reporting what he said.

I had to wipe my phone, due to an incomplete install of 2.2 and at this point, I don't plan on reinstalling ATK.

My battery became horrible recently on 2.2, and I have no idea why. When I bump charge it's fine, but other than that after I leave it on for a day or two (and charge it overnight) it dies very quickly. I use SystemPanel to monitor app activity and it doesn't look like anything's going out of whack app-wise.

I have had ok luck with my battery, but it's hard to say, I am in sales, so in my car all day and it is easy to charge. I would say that I need to charge it once a day when talking alot...by about 2pm, it needs to be charged. But, I haven't found it to be a huge problem.

Getting past the battery argument, the biggest issue I have is just not feeling in control of what is running and not running on my phone at any one time. I find this very frustrating of just not knowing what my phone is doing under the covers.

I would expect that most of us that participate in these forums are very proactive with wanting to know the ins and outs of their phone, but it sounds like we are just accepting the Droid-way. I guess we do have freedom of choice of selecting our platforms and right now going back to BB is looking better and better. I use a smartphone as a tool to get me through my day and help enhance my life, but I don't want it to overtake my life.

I don't think an ATK is needed with 2.2.

However, there are times where I sure would like to kill a task...like the good old BB days.

For example... if I open music player.... often I can't get it to turn off... it will start itself at random times unless I shut the phone down. There is no way to "exit' the application.

Try system panel it will close any app you need.
