"The lock does only 1 thing - it rejects SIMs not from the carrier it's locked to, so if it doesn't reject a SIM from another carrier, it's not locked - by definition."
Can anyone expand on what this means exactly? Respectfully, I have heard this answer numerous times but in what context does "reject" mean?
In my situation,I have an unlocked phone in my possession. It was unlocked at my friend's shop, then I used this phone overseas with a local sim so I know it is a functioning unlocked phone. Now I have the sim card in my home country and I know the sim card is inactive. In this context, the question is: When I put this inactive sim card in my phone, what verbage should I see to know the phone is unlocked when I insert this international sim? (I already know it is unlocked but assuming I wasn't sure). The things I have seen are "emergency calls only" when I try to make a call. When we say "reject", are we talking about active sims that won't work or can we tell using an inactive sim as well?
