How to flash a ROM and kernel on your HTC Evo

Simply flash the ROM right over itsself. Remember ... ROM's come with built in kernels ;)

Wipe dalvik, wipe cache, flash the ROM. You havent lost any data, any contacts, and texts, and your back to original kernel with ROM

lol im getting way to over worked for this!

i just slammed a beer, lets see if i can relax a little.

now i cant seem to get any kernel to work correctly.

i just tried both 4.1.9.1's same result, now i just tried baked battery, same result, boot loop, ill go into recovery, wipe dal, wipe cache, then flash the kernel and reboot, thats when i have my problems.

thanks for the help.
EDIT.

im getting the impression that these kernels are meant to be flashed when the rom is working, so maybe after my first bootloop, i need to reload the rom, then right afterwards like the directions say flash the kernel, otherwise they wont work? am i on the right track?

EDIT 2:
i think i was right! lol
so i re loaded the rom, flashed baked battery, then rebooted and its working, so i assume i cant keep trying kernels on bootloops because they just wont work, tried to flash 4.1.9.1 again and boot loop.

my dl and up speeds are really really slow now, i dunno whats going on,i wiped the phone, even restorted nandoid and everything is still so slow, not passed 300kb a sec, i hope its a tower issue or something because usually its 1200...

well speeds are back to normal now.

just a update, with a nandroid of my ac rom, im using the "bakedbattery" kernel, so far phone has 21% left after9hrs of usage, so im def seeing a increase in battery with this kernel.

kernel says 2.6.32.15 heromod #7

So i got netarchy 4.1.9.1 cfs universal workin. And battery drain is great when the phone is idle. But when you start doing stuff on it, it starts to heat up and drain battery much quicker. I let a friend play Angry Birds for maybe 30-40 mins and the battery went from like 80% to 30-35%.
i'm back to using the stock kernel right now, and it doesn't get as hot or drain as much battery.

So i'm thinkin maybe i should be using setcpu to lower the limit (when using netarchy) from 998 or whatever to maybe bout 600 or so?

Not trying to give this an unnecessary bump, but just curious of its actually helped anyone...

Def helped me. I rooted for the first time over the weekend using LJ method, and the video helps erase a bit of that "fear of the unknown." Flashed stock build and then Myn Warm without any trouble after watching. Thanks again for posting it.
