How to Force S8 to Lock Screen While Unlocked

I recently got a new S8 plus after I broke my first one and I noticed with this new one that when it’s unlocked and the screens off pressing the home button or power key bypasses the lock screen and goes straight to the home screen. After my 2 minute auto lock is goes to the lock screen but I would like it to always go to the lock screen when pressing the home button or power key. I have unlock with hard press disabled so that shouldn’t be the issue. Is this part of the latest software or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciative.

There are 2 timers - screen shutoff and lock. If you have the screen shutoff set at, say, 10 seconds and lock set at, say, 5 minutes, the screen goes black but doesn't lock for an additional 4.5 minutes, during which time pressing Home or Power brings the screen back. Set the lock screen and the screen timeout to where you want them. And there's a "lock the screen with the power button" setting (or some words to that effect). If you enable that, hitting the power button locks the screen instantly. Hitting it again only turns the screen on in whatever lock you have set, swipe, pattern, PIN, password. (Of course, if you have the lock screen set to None, it won't ever lock.)

I appreciate your reply and diagnostic but I’m just trying to figure: Is this a new feature? Basically what I’m saying is that whether the phone was unlocked or locked and you woke the screen up with power or home buttons it would always return to the lock screen where I could then just swipe because I was within the lock timer. Now if your within your secure lock timer it send you straight to the home screen despite having “unlock with hard press home button” disabled. Is this due to latest software updates?
