This morning I couldn't sent a 2 line e-mail with Gmail because I had no space left " o dispositivo não tem armazenamento suficiente p/ sincronizar " ("not enough storage to sync"). I don't know what else there is to sync in Gmail besides that e-mail, but alright.

I deleted a bunch of pictures and videos (around 300MB?). Still could not send the e-mail.

Then I deleted some downloaded files (around 100MB?). Still could not send the e-mail.

What's going on? Do I need to empty the trash or something? If so, where's this button hidden?

ps: any tips on dealing with files and syncing? I already sync the media on my device with Dropbox, inside a Camera Uploads folder. Can I just delete all media on my device?

Thank you

There are some places you can check who's taking your space. In settings - storage tap on MISC files. Files should be ordered by size, so it's easy to know if you have huge ones. Don't delete them there, that could give you some problems, just take note of the apps. If you cant recognise which app is the owner of any file post it here and we'll try to help you.

Apps like whatsapp, Facebook, Chrome, wallpapers, etc, can create huge files (data or cache). Check them in settings - apps. Any app heavy on pics can create big cache files. If you use a lot that kind of apps try, from time to time, to clear the cache through the app settings.

Using a file explorer will be very helpful. I like ES.

I haven't used Dropbox but I imagine there's an option to delete local files and not in your cloud storage.

Out of space on your phone or out of space in your Gmail account?

This. I think that Gmail uses your Google Drive space (could be wrong but I think that's how it works) so if you have a lot of stuff in Google Drive, you may have used up all of your space.

You can go to Google Drive (Drive.Google.Com) on a web browser to check out your remaining storage space. In the bottom left corner of the main page, it will say "xGB used (x%)". If you place your cursor over that, a pop up will appear showing how your data is distributed (how much is being taken up by Gmail, Drive, etc)
