How to get apps to use tried party file manager?

I'm trying to get keepass dx synced with my database in dropbox but I'm not sure how to get the dropbox directory to show up. It obviously does not allow me to access dropbox via the default file manager. Should I proceed with the master <-> local process outlines on keepass' wiki or is there a way to force apps to use third party file managers such as ASTRO which have cloud integration?

You could use Google Drive instead, and use the Drive app. Just make the KeePass data file (rename it to something innocuous, just in case - then tell KeePass to open that file) available offline, and it will be available to your phone and to whatever other computers you have Drive installed on. (I've been doing that since KeePass version 1.x.)
