How to get my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 activated

Hello,

I have an unlocked xiaomi Redmi note 7. I don't want to call metro pcs to active the phone on my line because they want to update my monthly plan (charge me more money). When I try to update it on their site its says sim card not valid with this phone (which isnt true)

Any suggestions? Has anyone else dealt with this?

What about just putting the SIM in the phone? That's generally all that's needed most of the time.

On Metro pcs you have to call them to activate the sim in your phone , they shouldn't upgrade your plan .

When i called they said they have to in order to have my phone work.sim are locked to phones for metro pcs

You haven't mentioned yet what happens if you just insert the SIM into the phone. Does it give you an error message?

It says no service. Data/calls, etc. The sim card is locked to old phone

Sorry, but the only thing I can suggest is to check with Metro's own Compatibility Checker: https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/bringyourphone. If it's listed as incompatible, I'm not sure if there are other ways to make it compatible.

And just to clarify, this SIM card works on another phone?

The sim card works. Metro pcs locks sim cards in to phones imei. So my current phone is locked in my sim card. I cannot take it out and place it into the Xiaomi. I have to have the sim assigned to it

OP wants to avoid dealing directly with Metro since they may lose the grandfathered plan.

I understand , but the way metro handles this I don't see much of a option , I can talk to someone I know tommorow in the metro pcs business see what their take is on it if OP can wait ?

Ok just spoke with the person I know, they shouldn't change your plan that you currently have but there will be be a fee between 15 to 25 dollars to change over to new device . Best bet to go in person to the cooperate store and explain what you want to do .
