How to get rid of adds on phone reset

Do they have an app that you can run to detect which apps are putting adds in your notification bar? When I reset my Atrix now an add always shows up. Also I have been getting text spam alot as well. My phone is fairly new so I have downloaded dozens of app recently making it hard to pin point the culprit.
