How to get rid of large message notification in app?

Ever since updating my s9 this afternoon, there is now a giant block about half the size of the screen in my messaging app that just says 'no unread messages'. How the hell do I get rid of this and why tf would they add this??

Just scroll up. They designed it like that so the first option selection is easy to reach. It goes away when you start scrolling.

I think changing your message settings will help you in getting rid of this. Tap Settings and then Tap Default SMS app and turn off the Notifications.

And you can also turn off the notifications for the message only. Tap Apps and Notifications and turn off Get notifications while using the Web.
