Android Central Question

I am getting a chime on my phone every time I start my car. The notification only lasts a few seconds. It is coming from something called "Smart Device Link" and has an icon like a chain link.

I cannot find a way to turn off notifications, since there is no app or icon that match. How do I disable this this or get rid of it?

Welcome to Android Central!

Which phone are you using? You could try disabling it (it’s likely a “hidden” app or service, in which case you’ll find it in settings):

Open Settings->Apps
Scroll through the list until you find Smart Device Link, then tap on it
Tap “Force Stop,” then “Disable”
Tap Notifications, and disable all options therein

Smart Device Link is the protocol (and the name given to the system by some car manufacturers). I haven't seen any apps actually named Smart Device Link, but it could be activating Android Auto or something else along those lines.

It is not coming from android auto. I have also looked at all the running services and cannot find anything obvious. Any other suggestions.

Yes, accuweather seems to be the culprit. It's also does this when one of my Garmin watches connects via Bluetooth. I like Accuweather, but it's about to get tossed if it doesn't fix this issue soon. (Version 5.3.7-Free, updated May 25th, 2018)

If I did this right, it should show a picture with the issue. (the top notification bar)

This happens every time my watch connects (via Bluetooth).

After I posted all that information above, I get a new notification... there's an update to Accuweather. I downloaded and tried it out. Looks like they fixed the problem!
