How to get the password from Android Device Manager off phone

[AC Question]

I used Android Device Manager earlier this week when I left my phone at work. Using my laptop at home, I put a password on my phone using the Device Manager. Now that I've had my phone for 2 days and deactivated Android Device Manager through my security settings, I'm still getting the prompt for a password. It's so annoying, as I usually don't have one on my phone. Does anyone know how to get the password prompt off?

Go back into your security settings and change your unlock option from password back to none

I tried to do that and everything is gray (won't let me select) except for encrypting the device.

I can't vouch for the effectiveness of this, but it seems others have used the "clear credentials" option and had some success:
