How to get the Pixel 2 ASAP

Last year preorders launched on 10/4 and release was on 10/19. If they open up preorders on 10/4 like last year, I could easily envision them mirroring the same.

I'd normally dismiss the speculation that the XL could be nearly a month later on initial availability as pretty outlandish, but given that it's LG making them and some (alleged) things are very or wholly new to the model, such as the POLED screen and ActiveEdge, I could see that happening.

Just hoping not.

Curious question. If I apply for Google finance to do a payment plan for the Pixel, how long is the process? With all the traffic, will I take a chance missing out on the phone compared to just quickly buy it outright?

It should be pretty instant. I was able to apply then checkout last year.

If they don't release the 2 XL til Nov 15th that's crazy. Guess they really, really, really, want to release this like the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

I agree that would be an extremely dumb move on Google. Hype the phone on Oct. 4th then November release? Wtf? . I will be extremely sad if that happens.

That would definitely suck! I'm about 3 years in with my Nexus 6 and I need this phone asap!! But more importantly, as long as I get my pre-order in....I'll have a sigh of relief.

If this is going the way I think it is, we can all pre order the phone Oct 4, and will probably get them in mid to late Nov. Google is the worst when it comes to launching products. As GTvert90 said, if they last 30 mins, and the site doesn't crash it's a victory. It's sad that Google, a billion dollar company still can't get this right.

They are but they're offering hardware so having some smooth ordering and shipping isn't an unreal want or expectation.

I remember last year people released the Google Store URL's before the keynote finished.

Wasn't the URL published when the first pics came out a couple weeks ago? I recall the Nexus 5 URL was pretty easy to figure out based on the Nexus 4 page.

IIRC, the order process has alternated between fairly smooth & fuster cluck the last few years.

Hopefully we will learn more about preordering and such when the announcement comes! I'm actually super excited about the Pixel 2. VZW pre-orders start in 52 minutes, so I'm gonna see if their delivery dates are any sooner. Google orders can be cancelled until the order packs.

Did you order white by chance? If so then you're probably one of the first for white. Black is still showing October delivery dates.

No, I ordered black because white was sold out at that point in time (it came back later with a later delivery date.) You are right though that it is only the white ones that say 6-7 weeks. Black ones are saying 4-5 weeks, which is probably the same batch as the Nov 8 ones (5 weeks from now), they probably just changed the wording to be more flexible.
