Hi I'm a new Android user after switching from the iPhone after 5 years of usage. so far I love my HTC One but theres one thing thats killing me, and that's no notification when i receive a SMS. sure you have the light and a vibe/sound but my phones on silent most of time at work and the light is too small for me to notice sometimes. I have done my research and found that people have been using an app called screen notifications but it makes the lock screen super sensitive! I can't even reject calls or control my music without going into the phone. does anyone have an alternative to this app? Also for some reason snapchat has the ability to turn our screen on when receiving a new snapchat so y not sms?? Also is there anyway i can use the volume rocker to turn on the screen?

You will need a 3rd party app. I recommend Textra, it's beautiful and will turn the screen on.

Yea I want to do it without replacing the stock messaging app, i actualy really like the minimalist look on the HTC One's stock messaging app.

I will give sms popup a try

I do too. That's the nice part of sms popup. It doesn't replace it just adds a popup and lets you turn screen on in the settings. I think you will like it.

I'm not too fond of the popup I wanted something that simply just lights up the screen with the texting sitting there

Sms wakeup pro. Also, this is the most retarded problem I've ever seen that the oem refuses to acknowledge and address. I've spoken to HTC reps about this and suggested third party apps. Are they serious? One of the most basic features of a phone is to turn on when an incoming notification comes in.

I agree. I tried SMS Popup also but did not like having the multitude of popups that I had to close if I didn't look at my phone in awhile. I also, just simply want the screen to turn on with a notification. Try Auto Screen On https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd&token=FRSygcWV
I've been quite happy with it. I just wave my hand over the proximity sensor and it turns the screen on. If I take the phone out of my pocket, the screen turns on.

This app seems to do the trick.

Looks like SMS Wakeup and Auto Screen On do not play well together. My phone has been doing some wonky things since installing SMS Wakeup. Most concerning is that sometimes it won't put itself to sleep. The screen would dim but it would not shut off. Earlier, the camera flash turned on for no reason. Like the developer of SMS Wakeup suggests, I unistalled Auto Screen On then resinstalled it but the problem would come back. I'm forced to choose between the two and I uninstalled SMS Wakeup. I just love not hardly ever pressing the power button.

Does anyone know if another app that provides the same functionality as Auto Screen On but doesn't run into problems with SMS Wakeup?

try sms awake. super simple and FREEEE

Thanks a lot for this! Tried SMS popup and didn't like it. SMS awake is perfect as you say. Sleep screen wakes for 5 seconds(or whatever you set) when an SMS is received, then goes right back to sleep. SMS popup never shut off. Awesome!

Link please for sms awake. Thanks

Try floating notifications. I'm doing the 30 day trial and it seems to be doing ok. Might be some minor issues with answering calls with a lockscreen on however.
