My Epic is stuck at D17 firmware and is not seeing updates. Sprint is asking me to try hard reset to solve the problem before doing an exchange. I come from WinMo 6.1 and have gotten pretty used to doing hard resets on that platform. Very new to Android, I can't understand if just tapping the factory reset in settings will do the trick or will it need some more intricate method of pressing those volume buttons while restarting and stuff that I keep reading about.

Also, is "hard reset" the right term I am using for wiping clean the device and starting afresh??

hit home button>menu button>settings>privacy>factory reset.

i think thats the order, my phones off right now. so im not entirely sure.

or whats the same thing as that is to turn your phone off and boot into recovery. turn your phone off, and then when you power it on hold the "volume down button + the camera button" and then press the power button. continue holding until it turns on. and then youll see factory reset.

id probably do the boot into recovery option cuz i bet it wipes more bugs.
