How to insert hyperlinks in text documents in Android Google Docs/Google Drive?

I love the versatility and accessibility of Google Docs, especially when accessed via Google Drive in Android or via Chrome on a PC. But the one thing that stops Google Docs being my perfect text productivity app is that I can't insert hyperlinks into what I write when in Android. I'm constantly writing linked articles - 4 per day or more - and I have to use up-to-date active hyperlinks in these. How can I put these in when I'm accessing the document via Google Drive on my tablet?
