How to install apps onto a sd card?

I have a new 2018 tablet. I have a sd card but for the life of me I can not figure out how to turn the SD card into internal or whatever the fancy term is for when you install new apps it directly goes to the SD card.

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet do you have? If your device supports Adoptable Storage (and not all manufacturers support this), you should get an option as soon as you insert a blank SD card to format as either Portable or Internal Storage. If you don't see that, or if there's no option to format as Internal Storage in the Settings>Storage​ menu, then the device doesn't support it.
