How to lock USB configuration to MTP (Media transfer Protocol)?

Is there a way to set my USB configuration to MTP (media transfer protocol) and lock it as the system default?... (so it stays that way).

It keeps reverting back to charging only, and its annoying to go back into developer options, scroll down and set it manually to MTP mode every time I want to plug in my USB into my computer?

Alternately is there a simple desktop icon or widget that toggles USB configuration?

FWIW I am on a Verizon LGV10.

You can't.

Maybe with root and a custom ROM, but otherwise, no.

PS: rather than "hardwire" connection to my PC, I mostly use the free version of AirDroid for file transfer and all sorts of other good stuff.

Ugh... ok thanks!! thats what I thought.

I prefer a wired solution because the wireless options are unreliable in my areas.
