How to make Rom Manager recognize CWM 2.x

Hello,

I have an issue. I have SC 2.9 ROM, Froyo, EB01. Unfortunately I used TB to reinstall my Rom Manager since it was paid for and I thought it would just be easier then reinstalling it. Now somehow it also brought with it the CWM 3.0.0.8 and installed that as well over my 2.x.

I tried to use Odin to go back to CWM 2.x. It installed just fine, HOWEVER, Rom manager is still recognizing the 3.x and like everyone else has said you can not use Rom Manager to revert back to 2.x. When I use Rom Manager to boot into recovery it goes into 3.x because that is what it is recognizing but it gets a bunch of error messages, not finding directories since it was written over when I used Odin to install the 2.x.

How can I get Rom Manager to recognize my 2.x version of CWM. I also tried using Rom Manager to do a Manual Flash Override and I chose 2.x. It shows 2.x on the top, and every time when I reload RM it asks me to upgrade to 3.x which I do not do. But it still tries to load 3.x every time I use it to boot into recovery.

How can I make it not recognize that old 3.x version?

Thanks

You can't get it to recognize cwm 2.5.1.x. It will always go to 3.0.0.8. That is why we have plastered these forums with every kind of warning we can think of telling everyone to not even touch rom manager for now.

Ahh I guess that explains that. I did not read all of those posts. The only posts I read are ones that I have an interest in and the one that I used to download my current ROM from just said not to upgrade my CWM to 3.0 (which I did NOT do). Since I got my phone in Sept and joined here in Oct I have flashed almost everything that has come out without any issues (I must have one of the good phones).

With that being said, had I seen "every kind of warning we can think of telling everyone to not even touch rom manager for now" I would have been able to follow that just like I have followed every other warning and explanation on how to do things.

But thank you for clearing that up for me since I didn't know that.

For now if you want to play it safe so there is no chance of anything lingering, you can uninstall rom manager, then flash the latest CWM-all-fix in ODIN. Then when you boot to recovery from long press power button menu or by holding volume up, volume down, and power buttons you will boot directly to cwm 2.5.1.x. Just make sure to not use apply sdcard:update.zip in this cwm. You can get the latest and instructions with visual aids in DroidXcon's cwm thread. The link is in my signature.

Hey Land,

I have the Odin file and I can access CWM 2.5. from a re-boot. Removing RM will not remove the remnants of the 3.x files and reinstalling the 2.5.x will not remove everything either. I may just reinstall my ROM to wipe everything.

I do not usually use RM for anything except playing around with themes while at work when I do not have access to a computer.

You can get RM to recognize 2.x CWM but it is a pain in the butt because it will ask you to upgrade every time you use it. Where I went wrong was when I used TB to reinstall RM which I guess auto upgraded my CWM without asking :(

Thanks

Gotcha. I think I remember reading somewhere a while back if you have previously flashed cwm 3.0 in rom manager and are now running cwm 2.5 you can choose apply sdcard:update.zip in cwm 2.5 and that will take you to cwm 3.0, so as long as you don't do that you should stick with 2.5. We will all be converting to 3.0 in the not too distant future, it will just take a while before all roms, themes, etc. will get converted to edify scripting. The pleas have already been sent out over at XDA to have everyone only create things in Edify from this point forward.

LOL I know. Everyone else is using the Edify. Like I said the only reason I use RM is for trying out new themes at work. I use Odin and CWM for everything else.

Thanks for your suggestions....

If by everyone else you mean all other phones and devs, then yes. The community ROM that was just released today was the first ROM for the Fascinate that was written in Edify script. I think all the devs are now in agreement to start using Edify only so we can catch up to the rest of the world. :p
