[How-To] Manual Rooting of LS670ZVH/ZVJ (+ links to root ZVD/ZV9)

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

It installed the update and took me back to the main menu, where I proceeded to reboot phone now.

I have yeat to gain any permissions within the adb shell to install anything. I'm not sure why I don't have the permissions. How would I know if the V9 recovery has been successfully installed?

Installed which update, the ZVH update, or the latter update needed to get adb shell working? I thought you said it did nothing? If you say it "took you back to the main menu" then it did something right?

I don't want to sound pedantic, but it is hard to help you because you aren't answering the questions that would help narrow down what is wrong.

I already told you the reason you don't have root permissions. You installed the ZVH update.

You should be trying to perform step #5 or step #6 and reporting the results.

When trying to run install.bat I get the follow in my cmd.exe box: ERROR: 000root\rage ,missing, DISABLE virus checker, RE-DOWNLOAD zvhroot.zip

But I can see it in my folder C:

Could you type in your command prompt (and post the output)

as you can see, there is no file named rage. Since it was in the original zvhroot.zip file, the most likely conclusion is your virus checker removed it.

You should do as install.bat suggests, disable your virus checker, and re-download zvhroot.zip

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

I will try again once I'm home, hopefully I can get this figured out

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

I've gone through the steps, reverted to ZVD and rooted, then went the update route, I've gone through everything, but after running "./rage" and I try to push the root thing after it on, it returns with several files being missing. Here I did the command quickly just to get the returned commands. I did actually follow step by step and haven't skipped stuff. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, you have to disable your antivirus and restart from the install.bat step. They tend to delete important rage files automatically before you can get them to your SDcard.

The reason you get all those errors is you didn't get "root" (ie # prompt) from rage. That could be because you have the wrong recovery or because rage got deleted by your antivirus.

When you ran install.bat in Step #6, did you see any errors? It should have warned you that rage was missing if it wasn't there.

No, I never got any errors, there, I ran through it all again on one screen so I could show you guys. I did the zvhroot install.bat while the android software was loaded, then rebooted into recovery ran the update.zip, and got the error (status 7) like I was supposed to, and then proceeded from there.

So your problem is actually that rage didn't give you root (ie the "#" sign). If you look at the instructions, it tells you to run rage repeatedly until you get the # sign in the prompt. It may take multiple runs. However, if you run it the second time and get locked out of adb shell, then for some reason, you no longer have the V9 recovery in place, and probably have the VD recovery.

Right, after going to bed early this morning, I realized what you had meant. If I run it, twice it does lock me out of the shell, though my recovery looks just like the one in the pictures at the bottom of the tutorial. I guess I'll try flashing back to VD again and rerooting. Is there anything I should look out for or can do to help prevent it from using the VD recovery?

Stock V9 and Stock VD are identical twins from a UI/Menu perpective, however if you have the new LCD it will be as if one was never born.

Just make sure Step #3 completes with no errors and move on to Step #4,5,6 without doing anything in between like reverting.

Well, I figured out where I went wrong, I was trying to skip flashing to V9>VD, and it was hanging up at the android screen, so I reverted stock. Then rooted, and tried from there.

This time, I'm pushed V9, used Z4, even added the Xionia CWMA. My question now is how do I go to VD. I tried pushing with KP500 and substituting V9 for VD but the LG thing hangs up and says something about remove cyan something or other, (sorry I already closed the log, like a ding bat). So yeah, That is my issue now. Am I missing something obvious?

*EDIT*

Seems to be going okay now.

Well I got VD running this time. Backed up and ready to try this again.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

I have given up, this has been such a pain to work around, I'll wait for a new exploite to hit and then root.

You really didn't need to go back to V9 (not sure if I read what you wrote correctly). You can go straight to VD, root it using one of the methods (2 are listed in the ZVH rooting thread), then if you go through the ZVH rooting instructions, in the process you will put the V9 *Recovery* on the phone. You don't need the whole V9 Android, just the V9 Recovery.

If you want to post the problem you most recently encountered we can try to address that but if it is too much then it is better to wait, however long that may be.
