[HOW-TO] [NEW VERSION] Install Nookie Froyo to Internal Memory

...I installed the nookie zip file, took out the bootable SD card, and chose "reboot" on CW, but instead of rebooting, my Nook color become BLANK...

Some people are getting what they call the Sleep of Death (SOP). What seems to resolve it (until it happens again) is to hold down the power button for as long as 30 seconds or until you see something happen. People think that they've bricked their NCs, but it's just SOP. If that doesn't fix it, then try the procedure of installing Froyo again.

...I can't get ClockwordMod Recovery to install/boot from device memory either...

CWR isn't working on Nookie Froyo and it's not in internal memory. You can run it from SD. With CWR on SD you can do everything as if it were on internal: you can make backups, flash updates, etc..

RE:yankees368

I got that msg a couple of times so I just ignored it, went into the browser to make sure I had the internet, went to google site (just to make sure it was working!) then I went into applications, opened the market via the icon there and I had no problem downloading aps

I have had the exact same problem as backlund twice, not SOP, just NOT booting out of Clockwork. So I've returned to stock, updated to 1.1 and rooted AGAIN!

02/17 went with Honeycomb on SD, works beautifully!

Take the card out and put in one that you want to use for storage. (or format the clockwork card)

Softkeys Not Installed?

The new .67 doesn't have softkeys installed. I can't download it using the old market app, it says something about my carrier not supporting it. I even tried to push it from the web market.

Is there another way to grab softkeys? Hard to use without it.

I installed Nookie Froyo to internal and everything is booting fine.

Problem is, I cannot mount my internal storage when I connect to the PC. When I plug my NC into my computer and click "Select to copy files to/from your computer." and then "Turn on USB storage", it only mounts the external SD card.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've re-installed nookie a couple of times and keep getting the same problem. How do I install gApps?

Thanks.

Sooo...
I'm really wanting to install the Nookie Froyo to internal memory, but I really like the and Use the Nook Color e-reader software(magazines and some other NC only titles)...
Does the NC e-reader SW still not work with Nookie Froyo?

The only thing i feel i'm really missing by not going with Froyo yet is the ability to run flash video sites...
Do Flash video sites work ok now in the NC?
The main sites I visit that use flash for video are CBS.com and amazon's VOD site...
Thanks!

Okay, I just bought a NC. I want to install nookie froyo to internal storage, but to be clear, do I need to do anything before I follow the steps on page 1? I ask because, I have no clue how to get Rom Manager on my NC since there is no market...any help on what I'm missing?

Also, is this a preferred method vs. froyo off the microsd card?

Why does'nt nookie froyo have google apps as part of the zip? Looks like everyone who installs nookie is going to install the google apps for the market anyway? Am I missing something? Thanks.

ADB Installation of Google Apps:

1. download the google apps files, and unzip the file so that it extracts the folder called 'system' into the 'Tools' directory in the SDK folder. **

2. Now you'll open a command prompt in Windows (start menu>run>type 'cmd') and navigate to the correct folder (cd [folder directory's path]). On Mac, this would be done via Terminal.

3. Now, with your NOOKcolor connected to your computer's USB port, type the following (of course, hit enter after each line):

adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
adb push [here, enter the path to your SDK tools folder]\system system/
adb reboot

4. Now your NC will reboot. When it boots, you'll have Market, Gmail, Google Maps, and many more Google apps.

* If you're getting a "device not found" error when running adb, download and unzip this file, open install.exe, and follow the on-screen prompts (this will install drivers so your computer will recognize the nook).

Ok, I've followed these instructions the best I can. Wasnt sure about step 2, where it says navigate to the correct folder; is this system, tools, ? You'll see in the attached image below I tried all manner, but I keep getting " error: protocol fault <no status>"

The computer is seeing my nook, but these instructions aren't working. My experience so far with these customizations, is that it's not the instructions that are wrong, it's something I'm missing. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm missing?

I got it to work but definitely not how you stated it. I had to do the following commands, involving adb shell'ing into the NC first to mount the system, THEN exiting back out to regular CMD, then pushing the folder. It was the only way:

adb shell
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
exit
adb push .\system system/
(the files within /system pushed over now)
adb reboot

Tried this also, but all I get is the error: protocol fault <no status>

Need Help!

Ok, figured it out :p I was right, it was me, not the directions. I had to go into nookie settings/applications/development and check the stay awake box. Once I did that, the adb commands worked like a charm!

Thanks will for all your work in the NC forums!

I've been at this for awhile and I'm stuck.

I've followed the instructions and installed the 0.6.8 zip file from my sd card which also has 3.0.0.6 on it. I do a factory reset, then wipe system and then wipe data. I install the .zip file and then reboot after pulling out the sd card. I get the touch message, then loading, then android with a flashing underscore. It never moves past this android line. I've tried rebooting after a few minutes of waiting several times but no dice. I've also tried using the stock restore zip then immediately installing the NF file and that doesn't work. Same issue, I remain frozen at the Android screen.

I then went and did the nook complete restore 101 zip file and then I wind up being stuck on the N screen. I don't remember if there was some animation on this screen before or not but the is static after the Contains Reader Mobile technology by Adobe Systems Incorporated appears at the bottom.

Any thoughts on what to do? After unboxing the NC today, I rooted, then installed CM7. I was able to use CM7 but could not connect to my router. I then did a factory restore, format of system and data then tried to install NF 0.6.7 via the clockwork zip. When that didn't work, I moved on to 0.6.8.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've done so many rom flashes on my DroidX I figured this would be a walk in the park. After 5 hours it appears that I've bricked the unbrickable.

Edit: I did some more searching and found the N, +, Power combo press. I am booted into stock. I guess I will take one more run at getting this to work.

I get to:
"adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system"

and I get device not found. system already had nook color drivers installed and it worked for USB/etc.

I have rooted and flashed froyo onto the eMMC already.

Do I need to have an CD card in the thing? Too tired... ZZZZ
