I had problems with the R1 version of the Win32DiskImager program and found the R2 version on their site which worked much better for me.

Hey guys...I'm going a little nuts here...I'm a developer and I can't seem to get adb (ON MY MAC) to recognize my Nook Color when it's booted up using NOOKIE. Debugging is enabled and my Mac sees the device on the USB port. "adb devices" returns nothing...rebooted a ton...not sure where to go from here as there aren't driver updates for Mac.

Sometimes a simple reboot of both your nook and your computer will do the trick. If that doesn't work, read up on installing the drivers manually on this page at nookdevs.

I did that and I got a "daemon not started" and "daemon started successfully on the next line. Then I get the "error device not found" after that, all I get is the error message.

I'm having the same problem and can't get the NC to be seen by ADB under OS X.

I know that on the Mac side, ADB was phased out recently, because it's no longer needed. My Nexus One now connects directly with Eclipse without having to run ADB.

Anyways, just chiming in.

OH, and so that I don't have to post twice, I installed the .59 image and now all the GUI art is scaled up in proportion to the NC's resolution. So all the icons, bars, and so on are scaled up, is this normal?

Hey, I just spent a few hours working on this myself. When you restart Android, make sure you turn on SuperUser before trying adb. When I did this I finally got it to work.

Thanks...I was able to install and run Eclipse with the plug-in and it works great with the emulator...I can build and run the sample applications in the Android SDK no problemo...

...still can't see my color Nook though. All I'm looking to do is get Market installed so I can start installing apps and I am good!

PS - For the heck of it I decided to try on my XP machine...still no love! It detects the device under "Disk Drives" automatically as a "B&N Ebook Disk USB Device" (there are two...one is the SD card and one the internal memory I'm guessing). It won't let me use the Google USB driver to update with either. Wow...this is bogus.

NOTE:

FINALLY GOT IT WORKING ON WINDOWS. The drivers you get through the SDK "available updates" doesn't work. I had to use the driver from Android Developers. WHEW.

Can someone explain the syntax of the adb commands? I'm running Win7, 32-bit. It seems that the command:

adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system

uses linux command line syntax. What would the same command look like using a cmd window from Windows 7? Obviously, there isn't a /dev/block/.... on the Win7 filesystem. Can someone provide some guidance on this? Thanks.

It's the same. You're running them in a windows command prompt, but by typing adb first, you're actually using the adb files in your android SDK directory (just make sure you're running the commands from that directory or it won't have a clue what you're trying to do).

That's how it looks booting, but if it's hanging there, it isn't booting completely. The first thing I'd try is power down and boot again.

Anyways, I have a Class 4 card in the NC currently and it's never had a problem.

I'm using a class 10 8GB Kingmax card, and it's been great. Zippy and stable.

The path you use with the ADB commands in question pertain to the Android device (Linux-based) NOT the operating system from whence you issue the commands...so ADB commands with paths in them won't change from client platform to platform...

Thanks for all the great info... Got Nookie Froyo running with out a hitch. Had problems with adb reboot, but finally got that going too. Not sure exactly what I did:

I want to use a Mac computer. What does dd mean?

Boot stuck at "ANDROID_". When I put the SD card in I get "Loading" twice, then it gets stuck at "ANDROID_" which continues to blink.

I flashed the SD Card successfully (it is a 8GB), but when I look at it on Windows, I see the drive is called "boot" and the size is shown as "115MB", of which 113MB is free.

The contents are:

MLO
u-boot.bin
uImage
URamdisk.

I also noticed the extract img file shows the size of 3.39 GB (3,643,458,048 bytes). That must be wrong, right? The instructions state that you only need a 2GB card.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks.!!!

PS. I know someone posted a picture. I just couldn't see it on my computer for some reason.

Just tried it on a different MicroSD card. Same result. One was a Sandisk, the other Pny (not that it should matter).

Didn't see a picture here under the step:

Did it on a different computer. My computer had a page file error which I guess messed up the image. Go figure.

No matter what size SD card I use I get .89gb of SDCARD space on the Nook.

Is it expected that I would need to use a partition editor and delete the SDCARD part. that is generated in the image a create a new one with the balance of the space on my card?
