Hi

I have some html files in my Sony Xperia M's phone memory that is opening in HTML Viewer instead of Google Chrome.

I have set Google Chrome as the default browser. I don't have any defaults to the HTML Viewer.

How to make these HTML files open in Chrome by default?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps, tap Menu, then Reset All App Preferences, which will clear all app defaults. If it still doesn't work, then Chrome probably can't open that particular file format. Also, be aware that resetting all app preferences will reenable any disabled apps as well.

Thanks, but did not help.

I installed Total Commander. Now, when I try to open the HTML file, it gives me two options, HTML Viewer and Total Commander, for "Complete action using".

I am really surprised that Chrome is not detecting the standard html pages.

The file isn't on an SD card, is it? You said "phone memory," so I assume you mean the internal storage, correct?

Hmm. The articles I found about this subject discussed problems only with opening HTML files from the microSD card, rather than internal storage. I'll keep my eyes out for any other solutions besides 3rd party apps.

Hello Sreekanth, i had same problem as yours, i use html reader App now instead of html viewer, its better for me so idk if that will help you too
