I have been STUMPED as to how the hell to get Facebook basically to work the way that I had it on the Blackberry Storm 2 or the Blackberry Tour, or even the Motorola Droid. I can't seem to find a Facebook application to download but for some reason my notifications are not push? There is a delay and then they go to my email for some reason.

My battery life drains in 1/2 a day so I am thinking I have to be doing something wrong here. I am tempted to re-activate my Tour 9630 if I can't get this stuff sorted out. It seems like the battery life almost makes this phone intolerable.

I am hoping that the battery life improves but I am not going to invest in another home charger and another car charger because the phone just flat out sucks in battery life from the factory. I feel like it would make sense to go back to the Tour.

Well I know there is a facebook app in the marketplace, but all of the reviews say it doesn't work and crashes all the time...so yeah...I guess I would like to know the same thing....you could just create a widget/bookmark to facebook, but I know you want it to work like the blackberry and just notify you....hmmm? Anybody figure this out yet?

I still have not figured this out yet and honestly it is really starting to get annoying.. the phone will randomly update with peoples status changes bc my social networking settings are every two hours but I can't figure out how to make the phone operate the same as the Blackberry Tour.

I don't think the android version will work like the blackberry version. It really needs a lot of upgrades. I do get notifications for pokes and direct messages.

I get updates pushed to mine, but I don't think it's through the Facebook app. At one point when I logged into the app, it asked me if I wanted to link my contacts. I chose yes and it did it. Now I get a little icon in my notifications bar that looks like an update (circle of arrows) with a person next to it. When I pull it down it calls it a Facebook notification, but when I open it, it doesn't take me to Facebook, it's another interface. I can see updates people have made to my newsfeed here. There are other options along the bottom to view group updates, and the home button takes me to my facebook contacts. This makes me think that it's pushing through the contacts, not the Facebook app.

Either way, I still think the app sucks. I can't view all comments made to my wall (it randomly picks 2 or 3 to show), and it doesn't update properly, even when I manually update it. I've never seen the Blackberry app as I came from the iPhone platform. We didn't have push, so I had to set up lots of notifications - SMS sent to my GoogleVoice number so I wouldn't have to pay for text messages. At least we have an app...

The Facebook App on Android really sucks, I agree. Here are some things I have found out recently...

1. You can download the .apk file for Facebook app that is on the Motorola Droid - which is better. I had a problem keeping it installed, yet I am an Android novice - not sure of your status.

2. Bloo is supposed to be a good alternative. Apparently, development had stopped for a while, but he is "back in business" and said to be launching an update tomorrow (Sunday 11/22) Bloo – The Android Facebook App

Good luck...

Has anyone tried the Meebo app then? The web version includes FB. Maybe the Android version does also?

I get my Eris tomorrow. The wife went for the Moto.
