[How To] Record Video with the Flash ON!!

I remembered I saw a thread in this and I was recording video for 30 secs in low light so instead my friends busted out his iphone 4 which can by default use led light with camera

This thing is crazy bright. If you use it periodicaly over the course of months could it still cause damage?

I use incredilight. It works great for me and has different brightness settings. You may have to have your phone rooted to use it though.

i don't want to use any apps that leave the flash on. i'm afraid of damaging it and i don't need to do it.

Don't be scared...LED's, by design, are spec'd to last 50,000 hours or more:

How long do LEDs generally last?
The industry standard for LED is around 50000hrs.
As all things do they will degrade initially up to 10% over the first 1000hrs of operation followed by a slower rate of decline to 30% loss after 50000hrs.
Commercially available LEDs are generally blue LEDs with a fluorescence applied to them and its the fluorescence that degrades not the chip/diode itself.
It also depends if the LEDs are being "driven" hard or voltage is variable.
The types of commercial dome-typeLEDs available these days are called "static sensitive" and can be badly affected by variations in voltage and current - that's why they're OK on batteries (if not run too low) but sensitive to other forms of power like 240vAC/12vAC transformers.
