how to rectify my corrupted contact numbers in android

I am using Motorala 1st generation android mobile. Some of contact numbers corrupted. Originally associated Contacts displaying with another contact in contact list, whatsapp and SMS. For Example: contact no 123456 pertains to xxx person but displaying the number with yyy person. Please guide me how to rectify the contact numbers.

I know of no way to fix those other than changing the numbers yourself. Assuming they were all correct at one time, what happened to mix them up? Did you have them backed up somewhere?

Welcome to Android Central! Are the contacts saved only to the local Phone Account, or did you enter them into your Google Contacts? It's always best to do the latter, because if something gets corrupted on the phone, you can always clear your Contact Storage cache/data (in Settings>Apps​) and then resync your contacts from Google.
